Compliance & Screening

Vessel & Company Sanctions Screening

A single search across the US OFAC Specially Designated Nationals list, the UK Sanctions List (FCDO) and the EU Consolidated Financial Sanctions List — by company name, individual name, vessel name or IMO number.

Anyone trading, financing or insuring cargo that touches sanctioned jurisdictions needs a fast way to check whether a counterparty, vessel or shipowner appears on a current sanctions list. Searches for sanctions checker, vessel sanctions and company sanctions screening tools have grown alongside the expansion of trade and shipping sanctions since 2022, but most professional screening services sit behind a paid subscription and a sales conversation.

Monaco Trade Forum's Sanctions Checker searches three official, publicly published lists: the US Treasury's OFAC Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List, the UK Sanctions List maintained by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), and the European Commission's Consolidated Financial Sanctions List (FSF). The UN Security Council Consolidated List is not included, because its terms of use do not allow redistribution; it can be searched directly at the official UN source. A single search box accepts a company name, an individual's name, a vessel name or an IMO number; the tool normalises and de-duplicates matches across all three sources, and returns each entity's type, country, sanctions programme, listing date, any other identifiers on file (including IMO numbers for vessels a sanctioned shipping company operates), and a direct link to the official source record for each list it appears on. Every match also has a changelog showing when it was added, updated or removed, alongside a running feed of the most recent changes across the whole dataset.

The underlying data is synchronised automatically at least once a day, and the tool shows the exact date of its last synchronisation next to the search box, so results are never presented as more current than they actually are.

This tool is used by trade finance and compliance teams doing a first-pass check before onboarding a counterparty, shipbrokers and charterers verifying a vessel before fixing a voyage, and insurers and freight forwarders screening a new client or cargo interest. It is a useful starting point, not a substitute for professional compliance screening, and each result always links back to the official source record so it can be verified there directly. No login or account is required to use it.
